Driving or Flying – Which is Cheaper?

hasenstein (sxc.hu)

Compare the cost of gas with the cost of flying by using AAA’s free calculator at http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com.

Example: Driving four people fromDenver toNashville in a 2007 Toyota Corolla uses about 62 gallons of gas and recently cost about $130/round-trip — compared with at least $952 for four round-trip air tickets.

$130 / 62 gallons = $2.09 per gallon- this is obviously wrong. also 4 people in a toyota corolla would be very uncomfortable after 2 hrs in the car let alone that if they averaged 30 miles per gallon-that would be 1800 + miles roundtrip- = 3 or more days driving there and back. what about lodging expense- nobody would be sleeping in the car would they? stops, traffic jams, bad weather delays, car problems, a corolla in an accident is crunch city for sure.
